I've tried out the new (or at least, newly noticed by myself) button to download events as iCalendar files. One problem I've run into is that when multiple events are selected, only one may show up when the file is opened (imported into X calendar program). It happens EVERY time with Mozilla's Sundbird, yet only sporadically with Microsoft Outlook. I don't know if this is a MyAutoEvents.com issue or just a problem with the import function in the associated calendar programs, but it is annoying. Also, if one is not careful to only check those events that he has NOT downloaded before, he will find multiple entries of the same events on his calendar. One finds this annoying as well. Now I shall refer to myself in the third person in a different way; His Harshness is done referring to himself in the third person now. _________________ #34 STX

Yup, that's a new feature. Just added last week! (I probably should post an announcement in the Announcement forum...).
When you use the checkboxes to generate an ics file containing multiple events, the way the file is interpreted by the "default Calendar application" when opened directly from the browser can be a bit flakey.
I don't have access to every Calendar software application out there, but I experienced a similar situation with it only importing the first event in the list while testing this functionality against both iCalendar on a Mac and with Outlook on Windows XP.
To use a multiple event file (not just one created by MAE, but ones obtained from other web resources as well), I had to save that file to my hard drive and then open that file using the IMPORT function in the calendar program.
The iCal format is pretty simple. Every item is assigned a unique identifier that -should- prevent it from being imported multiple times as separate events. For me in both Outlook and iCalendar importing the same event multiple times simply updated the existing calendar items - no duplicates were created.
At first glance it sounds to me like Mozilla Sunbird isn't handling the re-import situation correctly. _________________ Steve Couture
