I've somehow managed to get my default indexed class saved to my profile but I don't want one, so I have to change it every time I register and the change will not save to my profile.

Well, I managed to "fix" it by adding another indexed class to an event, registering for an event with the new indexed class, then deleting the indexed class and re-registering, but that's really not an option for a non-event-organizer
